Dr. Pallavi Kumbla was raised in Birmingham, Alabama. After completing her undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Alabama in 2009, where she graduated summa cum laude and was honored with the Dean’s award, she attended the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama where she completed four years of medical graduate studies and was first introduced to the specialty of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. During her medical school education, Dr. Pallavi Kumbla was inducted into the prestigious Gold Humanism honor society for her compassion in patient care.
Following this, she completed her 5 year general surgery training at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas from 2013 to 2018. During that time, she gained significant experience in all aspects of patient care and foundational surgical techniques. It was also during this time that she worked closely with renowned breast surgical oncologists and plastic and reconstructive surgeons in the treatment of breast cancer and complex reconstructive trauma patients. During her general surgery years, she was inducted into the exclusive Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and published numerous publications in several plastic and reconstructive surgery journals. She culminated her general surgery training by becoming board certified in this specialty.
Following her five years of general surgery, she completed three additional years of rigorous subspecialty training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She trained under several prominent plastic and reconstructive surgeons performing complex craniofacial, hand, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery, learning the comprehensive spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery. During this time, she performed extensive research, publishing over ten articles and chapters in prominent plastic and reconstructive surgery journals and textbooks.
Dr. Pallavi Kumbla then elected to complete an additional year of fellowship training at the largest aesthetic plastic surgery private practice in Texas, the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery. She was selected from numerous plastic surgery residents for this highly competitive fellowship endorsed by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. During this year she focused exclusively on learning the latest non-surgical and surgical aesthetic techniques under the mentorship of some of the leading aesthetic plastic surgeons in the country.
Dr. Kumbla decided to return to the southeast region to practice and serve the community where she was raised. As a female, Indian-American plastic surgeon, she offers a unique perspective on aesthetic plastic surgery. She is dedicated to providing excellent care to her patients and is committed to advancing the art and science of aesthetic plastic surgery at Georgia Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
