WHAT IS IT?
Perlane is the “sister” product of the dermal filler Restylane. They’re manufactured and marketed by the same company, Medicis Aesthetics Inc. They also contain the same biocompatible hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar that binds with water to enhance your skin’s fullness and elasticity. Perlane is an FDA-approved injectable cosmetic facial filler.
The difference between the two fillers is in the size of the hyaluronic particles. Those in Perlane are slightly larger. For that reason, Perlane tends to be used for deeper, larger facial wrinkles and creases.
Common uses for Perlane include:
- Wrinkle correction
- Diminishing worry lines, smile lines, crow’s feet, marionette lines at corners of the mouth, and smoker’s lines
- Lip enhancement
- Reducing the severity of nasolabial folds
- Chin augmentation
- Filling cheek depressions
- Redefining lip border
- Softening acne scars
- Nose Correction
- Eye Brow Lift
PERLANE VS. OTHER FACIAL FILLERS
Perlane is primarily the same product as Restylane, and Juvederm, but Perlane contains a larger concentration of hyaluronic acid. Because of this higher concentration of hyaluronic acid, Perlane is usually used for larger folds, while Restylane and Juvederm are better suited for smaller wrinkles or to maintain the results of a previous Perlane treatment.
AFTER THE PERLANE® TREATMENT PROCEDURE
As with any treatment, you may experience a slight redness, swelling, tenderness, and itching in the treated area. These symptoms clear up in a few days. Results can last up to 8 months or more depending on the treatments performed. The procedure can be repeated as frequently as required.
