Renuva Filler

What is Renuva Filler?  Renuva filler is an all-natural extracellular matrix rich with regenerative properties.  When injected, Renuva filler acts as a scaffold allowing the body to recruit new fat cells to  attach to it.  Renuva contains the same collagens, growth factors and proteins in its matrix as does autologous fat.  Made from human allograft tissue, Renuva is completely acellular, safe and long-lasting alternative to liposuction. Our Plastic surgeons are experts in Renuva and have a lot of experience with Renuva

What is Renuva filler made of?  Renuva filler is human allograft adipose extracellular matrix.  Human tissue has been used for nearly 100 years for reconstructive and other procedures, including skin grafting for burn care, abdominal wall repair, and breast reconstruction procedures.  Donated tissue is screened extensively and processed for quality and safety.

What are Renuva indications?  Renuva is to be used where fat naturally exists.  Common applications include injections in the face, breast and body for cosmetic purposes.  Also, Renuva has been uses successfully in reconstructive procedures like cleft lip and palate, Parry-Romberg syndrome, and for facial lipodystrophy associated with HIV treatment.  Renuva is regulated by the FDA and classified as a human cellular and tissue-based product (HCT/P).

What is Renuva’s method of action?  Renuva is an extracellular matrix containing the same collagens, growth factors and proteins as fat.  When injected, Renuva acts as a scaffold allowing the body to create new fat cells in its place.  It is hypothesized that in the presence of these regenerative components, the body signals for cell recruitment and differentiation resulting in new fat creation (adipogenesis) and blood vessel formation (angiogenesis).

What happens to the new tissue when you gain or lose weight?  Renuva is incorporated within the body and replaced with the patient’s own new fat cells.  This new fat will behave as fat ordinarily behaves with weight gain and loss.

What stops Renuva from making too much fat?  When injected, Renuva acts as a scaffold allowing the body to create new fat cells in its place.  Once Renuva is incorporated and the matrix is fully filled in, the process is complete and no additional fat cell creation is observed.  It is a self-limiting treatment.  Overfilling the correction is not recommended.  Instead, inject to correction; serial injections are recommended until desired result is achieved.
